Using programmes in child and adolescent mental health services
The following example illustrates how one organisation uses the programme functionality in Amni Care to support its child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) on a day-to-day basis.
By implementing standardised programmes for initial consultations and screening, the organisation promotes more equitable care and reduces administrative workload. Clinicians are better prepared for first appointments, allowing more time for patient interaction. The transition from paper-based processes to digital workflows also reduces administrative burden and contributes to an improved patient experience.
Amni Care programmes enable the collection of essential information from patients and their families prior to the first consultation. Once activated, a structured set of forms is automatically sent to the patient ahead of the visit, ensuring a comprehensive overview of relevant aspects of the child or young person’s wellbeing. The programmes are tailored for children aged 9–12 and adolescents aged 13–18. When an initial appointment is scheduled, the programme is activated and responses are made available to the clinician in advance. Routine follow-ups at 6 and 12 months are also scheduled automatically.
For patients already engaged with CAMHS, the forms support ongoing monitoring. In other cases, responses may be used in anonymised form to support service evaluation and quality improvement.
The forms are carefully selected to align with programme objectives and to complement referral information and parent-reported data, using recognised and validated instruments such as the BCFPI. In addition, programmes may support ongoing assessment and evaluation of interventions in established cases. Where clinically appropriate, further recommended instruments and assessments—such as Trauma Events Mini, CRIES-8, and MINI-KID—may also be included to support a comprehensive evaluation.
